'RAGING' .....
'They deserve to be HUGE' ..... (Classic Rock magazine)
Winners of Best New Band 2009 (CRS Awards), PANIC ROOM have already been dubbed a 'minor supergroup' with 'the indefinable hallmark of greatness'! (Classic Rock Magazine).
Led by 'stellar frontwoman' Anne-Marie Helder, whose incredible boundless voice has been described as 'Kate Bush meets Led Zep', this alt-rock outfit deliver track after track of powerful material - driving riffs, catchy choruses, hooky melodies, and a dynamic range that pulls you effortlessly from screaming metal to breathily beautiful ballads.
Panic Room love to play, & throw in all their vast influences to bring you a real sonic feast: Great rock songs, shot through with cheeky flashes of jazz, metal, funk, folk, blues & even eastern wailing.
The result is deeply dynamic. A band who one minute bring you dark & brooding, the next something playful & quirky... These guys (& gal!) can really play, and it seems nothing is off-limits to them.
Following the critical success of their debut 'Visionary Position', the 5-piece have just finished recording their brand new album 'SATELLITE', which is already being tipped as a huge rock hit of 2010.....
* PANIC ROOM will be touring to promote 'Satellite' throughout 2010 - for tour dates see the giglist here, or at www.PanicRoom.org.uk
* 'Satellite' is released on 25.1.10, & available from PanicRoom.org.uk, Amazon.com, and all PR live tour dates.
With the eclectic box-of-delights that was their debut album (‘Visionary Position’) behind them, Panic Room are now set to build on their reputation as a powerful, talented and passionate band with their new album 'Satellite'. Strong, melodic song writing coupled with awesome performances in the live arena saw them pick up the ‘Best New Band’ accolade at the 2009 CRS Awards.
The band have just released 'Satellite' - their 2nd album, which rocks harder than the first and maintains their fresh and eclectic approach... with tracks ranging from the sci-fi metal of 'Dark Star' to the chilled-out summery shimmer of 'Sunshine', 'Satellite' is fast collecting flawless and fearsome reviews. With the basic tracks being recorded live in the studio over a fortnight period, the new album has a real Live vibe to it... tons of energy, improvisation, creative leaps of faith and the usual musical mastery that make PANIC ROOM stand out above any genre that you care to try & squeeze them into.
Their massive wealth of influences, expertly explored & played with, are awe-inspiring... and their fusion of styles has been a huge success, both in the Live and Recorded arena. PANIC ROOM have a pure and restless desire to move forward, onwards & upwards... exploring new musical horizons, and diving head-first into whatever creative territories their collective whim takes them!
Panic Room are fronted by award-winning singer-songwriter Anne-Marie Helder, a truly magnetic creature. Her amazing vocal range and the spell-binding sensitivity she conveys are often called 'mesmerizing'; and the way she can transition from breathy, beautiful ballads one minute to the most intense & heavy metal-infused vocal riffs the next, is a marvel to watch.
That's why reviews have described her voice as 'Led Zep meets Kate Bush', and name-checked artists such as Jeff Buckley, Sam Brown, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Alanis Morissette, KT Tunstall, Jewel, and often Robert Plant, when referring to the passion and fire in her sound!
(Indeed, PANIC ROOM have played with this reference - & their genuine love of the LedZep sound - with a funk/electronica take on Led Zeppelin’s ‘No Quarter’! It's a popular encore to their live shows.
~~~~~~~~~~ DEBUT ALBUM - 'Visionary Position' (2008) ~~~~~~~~~~
Panic Room’s debut album ('VP') was released in April 2008, and received rave reviews from music magazines and websites. These included national UK magazines 'Classic Rock' and 'Powerplay' who both gave it a hard-earned 8/10. ‘Elektra City’ from this album was also the opening track on a cover-CD, which came with the 1st issue of ‘CLASSIC ROCK Presents Prog’ magazine (April 2009). This issue also featured a great review of Panic Room’s first London gig; and other glowing live reviews and full-page features on the band have followed since.
