In 1966, at the age of 14, a bunch of lads got together and formed the band Stray, and 1970 with a record deal in the bag, they released the first of their many albums.
But it was during the 70’s that the band achieved worldwide recognition, touring with groups such as Ten Years After, Black Sabbath and Status Quo and in ’76 with the then ‘new’ supergroups, Kiss and Rush.
With the advent of punk, came a Stray sabbatical that saw a couple of brief returns before founder member Del Bromham joined the Killer Bees.
Then, at the turn of the new century, Del took the decision to reform Stray, taking on the job of vocalist himself. It was not long before the band were once again gaining recognition and a tour with Iron Maiden followed, seeing them play all over Europe to over 300,000 fans. Maiden even adopted Stray’s anthem ‘All in your Mind’ and recorded it for themselves.
A long awaited studio album ‘10’ ensued, followed by the highly acclaimed ‘Live: In Yer Face’.For new and old fans alike there are also re-mastered old works and a huge compilation called ‘Time Machine’ to savour. Best of all comes the latest offering ‘Valhalla’, a diverse powerhouse of nostalgia that is a must have!
