Formed in April, 2004, Zero Point Field have been gigging extensively throughout the summer and autumn.
Contemporary indie-rock with a heavy twist of retro, ZPF have
been described as "an addictive shot of dark skewed rock" by Oxford's OHM magazine.
Strong songs, heavy guitar riffs and powerful lead vocals make Zero Point Field one to watch.
Alborz - Lead Vox/Guitar:
"What started me off was a KISS compilation tape that was given to me when I was just four years old. I remember the song, it was called Cold Gin, and when
I heard the opening guitars on there, my little mind exploded!!! I had never heard anything like that before. The kind of music I was exposed to at that age was Straus and Abba.
So this cassette seemed incredibly exotic and instantly mystical. Also I had no idea what they looked like, coz the tape had no cover, so this made it all the more intriguing.
That tape never left my hands for the next two years. I was a changed kid. My mum got very worried and hoped it was just a phase..........."
Paul Winterhart - Drums:
As I'm sure you probably know by now, that prior to joining ZPF, Paul was the drummer in the band Kula Shaker.
After KS split, Paul continued drumming as a session player, and depped (stood in as drummer) for many established bands, one being MARILLION.
Described as a descendant of King Arthur by Crispian Mills, which if you meet him - you could be forgiven for believing it were true.... Paul has had many adventures in his career so far as a pro drummer, which I'm sure he'd be happy to share with you - but don't mention the butter knife.
James Greenwood - Lead Guitar/BVs:
James joined ZPF in May, having been playing guitar for around 12 years (surely not - he's just not old enough I hear you say!) Hailing from the south coast of England - Poole in Dorset - James had been getting a reputation as 'a guitarist to watch', whilst playing in local bands THE DIRT and HUSTLER.
His other reputations were overlooked at he pursued his musical career on stage. Still being a bit of a local hero, James has been entertaining audiences in
Dorset as well as further afield in the UK as ZPF has been hitting the gig circuit this year.
Mark Diggory - Bass:
Having joined ZPF only recently, Mark - ex bassist in Herts-based band ESKIMO, is a bit of a dark horse. His deceivingly quiet extrerior, belies the vigour and passion of his persona as a rock bassist. Preferring to play a
'Flying V' (his baby) Mark switches between the baby and the 5 string mother as he thunders through the ZPF set.
As for his aspirations? You'll have to get him talking.......
